Dr Angela Hain
D. Psych (Clinical), MAPS, FCCLP
I am a clinical psychologist with a specific interest in the treatment of mood, anxiety, eating and personality disorders. I completed a Bachelor of Psychology and Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology (with Distinction) at the Queensland University of Technology, and furthered my studies with a Doctorate in Psychology (Clinical) at the Australian Catholic University’s St. Patrick’s Campus in Melbourne.
After graduating, I have spent the past 10 years treating severe and complex presentations at child and youth, forensic and adult mental health services. This has included work at inpatient, day program, community-based settings and in private practice. I adopt a formulation driven and evidence based approach to treatment. Based on the presenting issue, I develop collaborative goals for treatment and use a CBT, Schema Focused, Behavioural Activation or DBT approach to give clients choice and empower them though their recovery process. I have received extensive training in these approaches and also have a strong interest in group therapy as an evidenced based treatment modality. I have been an active member of a range of DBT group programs both in Australia and the UK. More recently, I have focused on researching the effectiveness of CBT groups for people who experience co-occurring anxiety and depression. I am also embarking on the process of accreditation to become an endorsed schema therapist.
